New CIRRUS Student Onboarding
Before First Lesson:
- Log into FlightCircle.com and confirm access to
- Review Payment Options and Set Up Payment Method in Flight Circle (eCheck/ACH for bonus points)
- Create a Cirrus Approach Account and purchase the required course:
- New Pilots —> Cirrus SR20 Private Pilot Course
- Existing Pilots —> Cirrus SR20 Perspective + Transition Course
- Upload Copy of Passport OR Birth Certificate to Flight Circle
- Watch First 12 min of ForeFlight for Student Pilots
- Get the required materials (see below)
- Download Cirrus Flight Operations Manual from Apple Books
New Pilots Only:
- - Study Sporty’s Study Buddy App
- - Get 85% or better on practice exam and get CFI endorsement
- - Sign Up For Written Exam (Create Account, Sign up for Private Pilot Airplane - PAR)
- - Create IACRA account
- - Download and Practice Plane English
Materials Needed Initially
- iPad (We suggest ipad Mini 5 or newer w/ cell capabilities)
- ForeFlight Subscription
- Paper or Digital Versions of these Documents, and the FAR/AIM (app or book or foreflight document)
Materials Needed Initially (but optional and by no means encouraged)
- Paper Pilot Logbook
- Physical E6B
- Knee board
Before First Solo
- Sign Renters Agreement
- Get Renters Insurance
- Get Student License from IACRA
- Sign Up for Medical Certificate exam Appointment
- Sign Up for Med Xpress and fill out form Requesting Class I Medical (Consult your CFI)
- Update Medical, and Insurance Exp dates on Flight Circle
- Upload Copy of Renters Insurance, medical, pilot certificate to Flight Circle
- Complete Pre Solo Test and Review with CFI
- Read Rental Checkout Procedures and confirm understanding from your JBA CFI
